Fun and Romance in February

Whether you’re looking for some half term fun with the kids or a romantic Valentine’s break, Moortown Lodge provides the perfect base for an enjoyable time away.

Our off peak rates apply throughout February, including half term, Sundays to Thursdays, when you can stay from £69.00 (incl. VAT and breakfast, for a standard double or twin, subject to availability).


Out and about


Towards the south-eastern corner of the New Forest, around half an hour’s drive away from Moortown Lodge, you’ll find one of the area’s premier attractions. Admission tickets include access to 3 places – the world famous Beaulieu Motor Museum, the Palace House and the Abbey.

New Forest Reptile Centre

A little over a 20 minute drive away, the New Forest Reptile Centre is a unique place, housing snakes and lizards found in Britain. Specially created outdoor pens provide a natural home to the rare sand lizard, the smooth snake and the poisonous adder.

Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary

Around a 25 minute drive away from Moortown Lodge, Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary is one of the most popular free New Forest attractions.

With graded walks through the giant Redwood trees, viewing platforms overlook the fenced areas where a number of fallow deer are kept. Rangers feed the deer between noon and 3pm everyday (deer sightings aren’t guaranteed).

A little romance

Furzey Gardens

A 20 minute drive away, in the heart of the New Forest at Minstead in Hampshire, this delightful informal garden is the perfect place for a romantic walk, established in 1922 and renowned for its all year round beauty. RHS Chelsea 2012 show garden GOLD award winners, the Furzey Chelsea garden can be enjoyed throughout the seasons as it now has its permanent home in the gardens overlooking the lake.

Buckler’s Hard

Just south of Beaulieu, this historic 18th century village and shipbuilding yard on the edge of Beaulieu River is the perfect setting for relaxing with a loved one, with a quaint museum, delightful walks and pub lunches available.

We’re lucky enough to have a range of good restaurants on our doorstep, from Indian cuisine through to traditional pub food. Contact us and we’ll happily recommend some local restaurants you might like to choose from, for Valentine’s Day.


Half-term fun


Get ‘hands-on’ at Beaulieu this February Half Term, with lots of activities for all the family. Young visitors can pick up a pass book and collect stamps at ‘hands-on’ activity stations. In the National Motor Museum, there is a rare opportunity to handle and learn about historical motoring objects at special ‘drop-in’ sessions. Elsewhere in the museum, over 250 vehicles are on display, from the earliest examples of motoring through to classic cars of the 70s and 80s.

Longdown Activity Farm

Longdown reopens on 14th February, with a daily schedule of activities running. There are lots of friendly animals to see, brilliant farmyard buildings to explore and loads of fabulous indoor and outdoor play areas including the trampoline barn and soft play area.
