The race is on for April…

You can tell Spring is well and truly upon us, with a range of nearby activities picking up pace. From fun motor rallies for little ones through to serious cycling races for bigger ones, it’s all happening this April in the New Forest! So why not come and join the fun and take advantage of our special rates while they’re still available, from just £69.00 for standard rooms, Sunday to Thursday, including VAT and breakfast (subject to availability). We have a secure space to park bicycles and motorbikes too.

Holiday fun at Matchams

Just a ten minute drive away from Moortown Lodge, you can race on 200cc Biz karts round the twists and turns of the Matchams Karting Circuit with its long straights, fast corners and tight hairpin bends. Nestled in the Hampshire woodland near Bournemouth, you can just turn up and drive.

Wiggle yourself fit

Sunday tickets (12th April) are still available but might not be for long so hurry and book if you want to take part in the renowned Wiggle New Forest Spring Sportive. Voted in the UK’s top 10 Sportives and beginning just a ten minute drive away from Moortown Lodge, you’ll ride with 2000+ like minded riders through the breath-taking scenery of the New Forest.

Get in the driving seat

Race on down to Beaulieu between 3rd and 19th of April and you’ll be able to get behind the wheel on their giant Scalextric track, take part in the Car Hunt or even try your hand at creating your own F1 car. There are a range of activities suited to younger and older drivers, making this a great destination for all the family, just half an hour’s drive away.

Join the ride

On the 19th April, just a few minutes ride away, motorcyclists can come and join one the New Forest Motorcyclist’s free meet at Avon Heath. Newcomers are always welcome to join this small group of experienced riders who ride at road legal pace, with respect for each other and safe riding.

Something gentler

Sea trout fishing starts on 15th April at Avon Ringwood fishery, just a few minutes down the road from Moortown Lodge. The venue offers a bit of everything – deep holes, fast shallow runs, bridge pools and side streams. Be sure to pass Ringwood’s very own tackle shop on the way.

Spring is the perfect time to see nature at its best in the New Forest. Bluebells start appearing in April, across 34 square kilometres of broad-leaved enclosures throughout the Forest, where they flourish under the canopy of trees.
