Christmas is coming!

With all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for Christmas, it’s easy to forget it’s a time to relax and enjoy! So why not take advantage of our special rates and come and get into the Christmas spirit minus the stress. Moortown’s wonderfully placed for a variety of festive activities – from Christmas shopping through to family fun. And we’re open right up until 23rd December.

Furlong Shopping Centre and Santa

Shop to your heart’s content at the Furlong Shopping Centre, right on our doorstep here in Ringwood. Visit on 14th December and Father Christmas will be there in the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car, where children can have their photos taken. They can also enjoy free crafts in the elves’ workshop. Beaulieu Abbey Christmas Carols

The Christmas carol concert at Beaulieu Abbey takes place on 5th December at 7.30pm. The evening promises to be a wonderfully magical and traditional event, with a contemporary twist. The Beaulieu Warblers will be singing Christmas Carols and the Southampton Rock Choir, who have a fantastic reputation for their feel-good repertoire, will also perform. It’s hosted by Honeypot, a local children’s charity. Find out more here.

Longdown Farm Christmas Barn

Less than a half-hour drive away, from 7th to 24th December, Farmer Bryan and Father Christmas will be opening the Longdown Activity Farm barn doors once again for an ‘animal magical’ experience for children. (Please note, the rest of Longdown Activity Farm will be closed). Farm favourites such as kid goats, kune kune pigs and calves will be making an appearance, as well as other animals. The Nativity scene will be watched over by donkeys and Father Christmas himself will be waiting inside to greet the children and give them a gift. Read more here.

The New Forest Christmas Fair

Featuring locally produced seasonal gifts, tasty food and Santa’s grotto, the New Forest Christmas Fair runs from 7th to 8th December, and is less than a half-hour drive away from Moortown, at New Park, Brockenhurst. Perfect for getting into the festive spirit this winter, visitors can enjoy a glass of mulled wine, sample delicious festive food and browse for interesting or unusual locally sourced presents. Christmas at Moors Valley

A ten minute drive away lies Moors Valley Country Park and Forest. From 30th  November to the 15th December, they’ll be hosting a Christmas Market featuring plenty of locally produced crafts and gifts for Christmas with opportunities to buy some really special Christmas gifts including jewellery, wildlife photography, cakes and soap, all produced locally in Dorset or Hampshire. You’ll also find different Christmas workshops, walks and bike rides taking place at certain times in December. Read more here.

Christmas at Beaulieu Motor Museum

Christmas at Beaulieu is a time of magic for all ages and the fun carries through from 21st December 2013 to 5th January 2014. (Closed Christmas Day.) Inside Palace House, there will be carol singing around the grand piano. Visitors can talk to characters from Victorian times and warm themselves in front of the yule log in the hearth of the great fireplace whilst enjoying a glass of hot fruit punch. The splendid Victorian-style decorations around the house and the magnificent Christmas tree in the Upper Drawing Room add to the festive feel – and in the grounds you’ll see one of the largest outdoor Christmas trees in the area. Christmas at Adventure Wonderland

Less than a fifteen minute drive away you’ll find Adventure Wonderland, a big hit with little ones!  This triple award winning, family-run theme park, has 30 rides and attractions and includes a massive indoor adventure play centre for fun whatever the weather. On selected dates up until Christmas, Adventure Wonderland is running a Step into Christmas and Full Father Christmas experience. Read more here.

Christmas Shopping Further Afield

If you want to hit the shops for some really serious Christmas shopping, West Quay in Southampton contains around 150 shops, including major retailers such as John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Zara, Schuh, Waterstone’s Bank, Apple and many more top brand names. Bournemouth also offers shoppers a fabulous day out. Most of the town centre is pedestrianised with shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops. Find more events here.
